Coordinator, Karna Kelly

Ms. Karna Kelly
Douglas County Performance Learning Center
Coordinator

I am native of Atlanta, Georgia born at “The” Grady Hospital.  I began my career as a paraprofessional and then as a special education teacher at Cedar Grove Elementary School, a Title I school in south DeKalb County. I am a proud graduate of Clark Atlanta University where I have received my Bachelors in Psychology, Master in Special Education and a Specialist in Educational Leadership.

In 2001 I moved to Atlanta Pubic Schools where I worked as a Math Instructional Coach for four years at Connally Elementary and Kennedy Middle schools. This position put me in the role of a sort of master teacher and coach for other teachers.

In 2007, I moved to the Douglas County School System and served as an assistant principal at Lithia Springs and Mt. Carmel elementary schools before becoming principal at North Douglas. In 2021 I was appointed the position of Performance Learning Center Coordinator.

I have 25 years of experience as a teacher and administrator in three different school districts. I also have certifications in early childhood and middle grades education, special education, reading and math endorsements as well as leadership.

These experiences, combined with my zest for growing our students, have positioned me to be the best fit for the Coordinator of Performance Learning Center. I am excited and committed to the Success of all of our students.
