"Education is the great equalizer in a democratic society, and if people are not given access to a quality education, then what we are doing is creating an underclass of people who will ultimately challenge our very way of life."
-Gerardo Gonzalez

My name is De-Wain Brown and I am proud to be part of the Success Center for Douglas County Public Schools. Life is a journey and for me the journey has been EPIC. I am a veteran of the United States Navy and after seeing the world and all of its splendor, I received an Honorable Discharge and embarked on a new adventure. I continued my journey to Norfolk State University [Norfolk, VA] where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science then set a course to Morgan State University [Baltimore, MD] where I earned a Master’s degree.

The purpose of an education is to teach people how to think, and not what to think. My goal as an educator is to cultivate academic growth and development and to help students reach the ultimate goal, graduation. The key requirement to fostering this growth and to obtain anything viable, is to step away from your comfort zone. Though this journey may be rigorous, the end result will be success. I look forward to taking this journey.
